My Inaugural Newsletter

Sorry I Have Taken So Long

I asked some of you months ago would you receive my newsletter. Then I went on a huge necessary tangent looking for the best provider. Found Ghost.org. Not for profit. No algorithms. Don't have to pretend I am helping people while we all walk to the edge and fall into a deep pit and a few of us climb over the others back to reach the top again, and then proceed to push the others over the edge so they can help them climb back out for a few bob. My recent experience on Typeshare, Reddit, and Linkedin.

They led me to Stoic Ryan Holiday. Who began his blog 10 years ago because, 'I wanted to write what I wished other blogs would talk about more often: lifedealing with assholeshow to be self-critical and self-awarehumilityphilosophyreadinglearningresearch and strategy.' Exactly the opposite of the ongoing social media pyramid scheme. I haven't checked him out properly. He might be a dick. He made me re-aware that I just need my own newsletter that has integrity.

So here is me with integrity.

Congratulations To You

So, first congratulations to you for making it to my first ever hand uploaded names of people who have never pissed me off. I don’t include professional differences. I don’t include personal ding-dongs. I mean cunts who can’t control themselves: greed, betrayal, general incompetence, just cannot be trusted not to throw me under the bus to further their own shit. You are all people I have had personal meaningful resonances with. In the flesh. Some from afar.

 Time

What’s making me more full on now? 23.06.25 I received my first pension off the DWP. Scary. Means time is running out. Means I can be the mean old aunt with the hair on her chin who tells it like it is. So, people who are receiving this email, know I like you, I may even love you. I know you like or may even love me. And no amount of good for my career could have got you on this list. Of course, I want it this list to expand. But I will also do it meticulously.

 Congratulations To Me

I got the ACE dough for MY MUM IS WHITE. HOME Gallery 21.08.25 to 21.09.25.

 Quick Version

Take a look at the feature image. I’m gonna use my 12-words technique to ask the question: 'What does a mixed-race sink look like?' Unleashing the memoir of me and 7 other individual mixed-race, formerly known as ‘half-caste’, creative & cultural practitioners. Mixed-race psychologist Professor Danquah will help each unpack theirs. I will use my 8-station technique to transform their memoir into 64 feet square mind-map on HOME's Walls. Professor Danquah will help the group unpack individual memoirs. I’ll transform each unpacking into 8’ x 8’ mind-maps. 16 huge mind-maps are now the forest. In which we exorcise the ghosts.

Long Version

My actual, successful, ACE application. Minus the monotonous bits. Minus inclusivity and relevance which the participants might find too personal.

Booker T Washington

Stoic Ryan Holiday leads me to Booker T Washington's 'Up From Slavery'.  I download it on Audible. A fellow mixed-race. I understand has questionable thoughts about the black man's place. Unquestionably he is interesting. A child slave who is set free by the 1865 Civil War. I'm only 2 chapters in, but mesmerised. I've been mesmerised by slavery since:

·      Aged 11. 1970. Reading my mum's Falconhurst Plantation potboilers.

·      A representation of her — a white woman who loves a black man.

·      And a version of me — a mulatto who is escaping.

·      Aged 14. 1974. Visiting my dad’s family in a no gas-no electric-no running water Jamaica that slavery has just left. Making sense of my dad.

I'll let you know what 'Up From Slavery' makes me think. And what it does to MY MUM IS WHITE. Whose ACE funded prep begins today 07.07.25. I'm starting here so I can take you on my journey. I want you to make this journey with me. Please spread the word to mixed-race who may find MY MUM IS WHITE relevant. Including the white mum's who gave birth to us. And our black dads.
